Giving Back
The Toor Family Foundation was established to promote philanthropic endeavours focused on health, wellness, art and culture. In particular, we believe in supporting our communities and vulnerable populations through capacity-building and advocacy as well as cultural enrichment and exposure to global arts.
CAMH
The Toor Family Foundation has long supported the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Canada’s largest mental health teaching hospital and one of the world’s leading research centres, to help provide comprehensive care to patients and their families.
With assistance from the Toor Family Foundation, CAMH is leading the implementation of NAVIGATE, a program that provides comprehensive care including medication to reduce symptoms, a family education program, resiliency training to help patients identify and develop strengths, and counselling to help young people pursue their education and employment goals.
CAMH has expanded this program across ten sites in Ontario, Canada and is working with teams internationally to make the program globally available. With support from the Toor Family Foundation, CAMH has created youth-focused learning and remote platforms – an important step in ensuring all young people receive high quality mental health care.
ROM
The Toor Family Foundation has championed the development of a Global Sikh Art & Culture Gallery and Program at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in Toronto, Canada. The ROM showcases art, culture and nature from around the world and across the ages.
As Canada’s largest and most comprehensive museum, the ROM is engaged in a multi-year revitalization plan intended to advance its status as a welcoming and inspirational focal point of cultural and community engagement.
With the Toor Family Foundation’s support, the ROM will construct a new gallery dedicated to Sikh art and culture, endow a curatorial position, build an important collection of Sikh art, and develop public engagement and education programs, temporary exhibitions, as well as other community and public engagement opportunities. The Toor Family Foundation’s support will help create and sustain an enriched art and cultural experience at the ROM for years to come.
